Can you really have success with network marketing online?

Today it is much easier to succeed online with all the networking opportunities available as opposed to even three years ago. Network marketing companies these days have wised up and started building in some basic tools to help distributors get the word out. Social media plays another important role and has simplified marking online.
Network marketing, better known as Multi-level marketing (MLM) has been around for over 70 years. Long before the internet was born everything was done in person. Imagine trying to build a business with a land line telephone (mounted in one place), snail mail, doing only hotel or home meetings with very few marketing tools to share with your prospects.
That’s exactly how my current mentors built their 7 figure income, and you know what, that still works today.
The question is, how effective is only using offline methods going to work to build your business? In today’s fast paced world, it’s not! Most companies have positioned themselves globally which makes it nearly impossible to reach without going online to market.
Network Marketing Online – Getting Started
There are several ways to get started marketing online. The key is to pick one or two strategies you enjoy and master them. The second piece of advice I can offer is to invest in yourself and pay for some online training. Far too many people get started marketing on the internet and go about it the wrong way.
Using the internet begins with creating an online presence. It is known as developing your personal brand. I’ve said this before and I will say it until the day I die… Network Marketing Online is about offering solutions to people’s problems. If you’re ever going to attract people to you, then you must offer value first. Give people a reason to trust you, because they will never join your business or buy from you if they don’t have trust.
Branding yourself first will ensure that if God-Forbid the company you are marketing ever goes out of business or is shut down, you can still survive online because you didn’t put all your marketing eggs in one basket!
Four Basic Ways To Create An Online Presence and Attract People To You
- Video Marketing – YouTube
- Social Media Marketing
- Article Marketing
- Blogging
Of the 4 methods listed above, blogging is by far the most effective long term way to create an online presence and here’s why.

Properly setting up a blog creates a central hub for you to direct prospects to. It should not be used as a place to solely promote and spam your business or products. It should be used to “Brand” you as the expert in your niche. This takes us back to offering value first and solving problems.
If you have always wanted to start blogging but have no clue where to begin, a good friend of mine, Lisa Jahred and I have put together an ebook to get you started. You can download it for free by leaving me a comment below, I will be sure and send you over a link.
Keep in mind, blogging is not the quickest way to market using the internet. It will take time and a fair amount of work. I will caution you once again, invest in some training! It will make all the difference in your online network marketing success!

Hi Vidzem,
I agree, those are all very powerful ways to boost your online presence. Serious online marketers in most cases will use all 3 methods you mentioned. In my mind those are a bit more advanced and definitely topics for additional articles.
Thanks for stopping by.

Thanks for the post, Richard! May I add – aside from the four ways you mentioned, squeeze pages, eBooks, and online advertising are some other methods to help boost your presence online.
Thanks for adding to the discussion. I agree, those are great ways to boost your online presence. For those just getting started, those methods might be a bit overwhelming.
I appreciate your input!

Hey Timothy,
Thanks for stopping by and adding to the discussion. You are so right, often times people do make false promises and it’s too bad. That is what gives the industry such a bad name!
I appreciate your insight.
Thanks again,

PS: Great work on your article, The complete guide to content marketing. A must ready for anyone working on building an online presence…
I never got involved with network marketing but I have written plenty of reviews about different online business opportunities for my freelance writing clients. I was under the impression that most network opportunities are scams, but I guess it all depends on how you market it, some people use false promises to lure members, while others use legitimate marketing techniques (like the ones you mentioned). Thanks for taking the time to write this article and share your views on network marketing!

Hi Melisa,
I agree! But building online does take a significant amount of time and it’s not for everyone. Having an offline strategy in place is important.
Thanks for your comment!

Hey Chuck,
Wise words my friend! Thanks for telling it like it is… Blogging is a great way to build an online business and generate leads. Qualified leads… What better way than to have people coming to you who are interested in what you have to offer as opposed to chasing after people who really could care less about your business opportunity…
I appreciate your two cents! 🙂

It truly amazes me that so many Network Marketers still continue to build their businesses offline, by contacting friends and family or speaking to strangers in the local store! when like you said, you can generate leads and sales on autopilot while you’re on vacation when you leverage the internet!
I’ve built my business 100% by blogging. It is the hardest thing I have ever done in my life, but it really paid off. I now have one of the most popular MLM blogs in the world. I’m not saying that to brag. I work my you know what off. The beauty of blogging is that each post can work for you and generate leads for years to come. Most people give up on their blog way to soon. You have to blog at least a few times a week for minimum three years just to get any traction. However, once you hit the momentum it takes on a life of its own. I suggest blogging for people who are patient, enjoy writing and look at it as a long term project. Just my two cents.
Hey Morris,
Thanks for leaving a comment, I appreciate the kind words.
It also seems like most don’t take their new business seriously, either because they paid too little to start it, or they were just trying to appease a friend or family member. Setting yourself up online correctly is the best way to insure that you will have interested people searching you out for what you have to offer.
Thanks again!

Loving this post. I’ve come back time and time again to read your knowledge.
You are correct. Far to many people get involved with network marketing and don’t know where to start off. Just like I did. Most successful marketers are successful either by blind luck. Or the training they have received.
Thanks again for this post sir

Hey Richard,
You hit the nail on the head when it comes to network marketing, and thank you for the reminder… in today’s fast-paced Internet world, offering a solution to a person’s problem is key.
As you also reminded me… this will help build a “Brand” around my business, showing me as the expert in my particular niche.
Wise words from a wise man… Thank You again Richard!

Hi Di,
Constant education comes first in my book and patience is #2.
The best advice I can give is to be consistent and start with one strategy and master it before moving on to another method of marketing.
Thanks Di for stopping by!

Hey Richard,
Great article Richard, and one that covers those important actions to get someone up and running on the internet.
You are spot on, from my experience also, I have invested a lot into my own skills, my self development and I have had to learn a lot more about patience.
Have a great weekend Richard
Di
Hey Lisa,
Thanks so much for stopping by and adding to the conversation! I agree, it does take patience, time, and skill. The best part about this strategy is anyone can learn how to do it.
It’s like anything, if the desire is big enough, the goal can be obtained. It just takes consistency and hard work. The reward far out weighs the effort in my opinion.
Thanks again Lisa!

Hi Richard!
Thanks for another great post! Creating an online presence is key to building your business online. But…offline still works too.
Online marketing is a passive strategy but a wonderful as you and I both know. With patience, time and skill, anyone who is willing can leverage the Internet in a number of ways which you mention.
My advice to anyone thinking about it…go for it!
Have a great weekend!
Lisa
