I discovered what I think to be a pretty cool way to gain free  twitter followers today, totally by accident.

Ok I’m going to come clean on this one!  I am a newbie to Twitter. Yep, haven’t been tweetin long, a week at best. (as of this post).

Granted, you’re not going to gain 500 twitter followers in 3.5 seconds using this method, but it’s something to think about and try.

As I was humming along surfing some of the Giants in the industry’s blogs… Ray Higdon,  Katie Freiling, and a few others. I came across a post about doing video’s on Katie’s blog.

I was inspired by her video and decided to hit that little button at the top of all of our pages, you know, the little retweet button. Yeah, that little green tweet button.  (you should click on that sometime 😉 )  Anyway, while all this was going on I had my SocialOomph program open in a different browser window on another monitor.  Dual monitors because you know, ya just can’t do 20 things at once with only 1 monitor…

I was tracking how many twitter followers my posts from Twitter were getting through Social Oomph.

Not 45 seconds after I hit Katie’s retweet button, I’ll be  d#@*d.  Right in front of my eyes about 10 twitter followers came across my email program telling me that, “So an So” was following me on Twitter.  Within about an 8 minute time frame, I had close to 30 new  twitter followers and all I did was hit a retweet button.

Now before you go rushing up to  hit my retweet button I have to tell you… It probably won’t work quite as well using my blog for those kind of results.  Remember, I was surfing and retweeting on one of the heavy hitters websites.  Not that I am trying to discourage you from retweeting, please, if you enjoyed this post, by all means, retweet it up!
