There comes a time when enough is enough!
If you’ve been working on learning how to generate leads online for your network marketing business, do you find yourself spending hours upon hours in front of your computer, buying all the MLM marketing tools you can afford?
If so, then you’re a victim of MLM information overload and it really is time to STOP and start implementing these 7 steps.
You know, I’ve been doing this now for a few years and I am just blown away by the sheer number of distractions that end up in my in-box everyday!
There is always “One Shiny New Object” after another coming at us from all directions.
Well, the best thing you can do to avoid MLM Information Overload from happening to you is to…
1. Unsubscribe from every email list that you are on.
Unless it’s from your primary or affiliate company, take yourself off all the lists you subscribe to for 60 days.
2. Focus!, Focus!, Focus!
Stop running in 50 directions and “Make A Daily Plan of Action” I want you to write out 3 things that are actually income producing activities and concentrate on those three thing for the next 30 days.
(here is a previous article that may help you with IPA’s)
And NO, Blogging and taking yet another course on Article Marketing, PPC, How to Generate 50 Leads a Day, or any of that, are not (IPA’s) Income Producing Activities.
3. Disconnect yourself from your email account!

Stop checking your email 700 times a day! Email is the #1 distraction and will veer you off course every time. For the next 30 days, try checking your email only twice a day. Once in the morning, and then around 4 in the afternoon. This way if something earth shattering comes in, you can respond to it before the workday is over.
4. Spend 70% of your available time each day Prospecting & Building Relationships.
I’ll bet you right now you’re spending more like 60% to 75% of your time on courses, blogging, answering text messages, email and just about everything under the sun to avoid picking up the phone and calling a new prospect. The bulk of your day needs to be spent talking with people, building relationships and prospecting is the only way to make a sale. Fear of the phone and the word NO, are the two biggest things holding you back from success in your network marketing business.
5. Goal Setting and Planning
Again, I am going to refer you to a previous article that will help you with setting goals and planning. https://workwithrichardp.com/are-you-still-shooting-blanks-in-your-network-marketing-business/
6. Pick It & Stick It!
Okay, granted, there is probably a better way I could have said that but… It got your attention right? Pick one strategy, it doesn’t matter which one, and stick to it until you are a master of it. Bouncing around from strategy to strategy trying to learn and implement 5 things at once will cause more MLM information overload, and will only delay any success you will have in your network marketing business.
If you’re a ham and love being in front of the camera, then start with a YouTube strategy. YouTube is one of the most powerful ways to connect with new prospects. It gives them a real sense of who you are and allows them to identify with you as a leader faster than any other method I can think of.
Consider making 90% of your videos, “How To” videos and teach people things you have recently learned. Remember, there is always someone brand new who is where you were just a few weeks ago. Chances are good they are looking for the same solutions to a problem as you were.
Facebook is another killer strategy for connecting with new people and generating leads for your MLM. Jessica Higdon is the queen of recruiting people straight from Facebook. Read her article so you can avoid the pitfalls and mistakes most people make on Facebook.
7. Schedule Social and Study Time
If you follow rule #4 then you know, 70 of your time is best spent prospecting. That leaves 30% of your overall time allotted for trainings, webinar’s, and social activities on or offline. Social activities should include: Reviewing other blogs in your niche for article ideas and education. Be sure and leave comments on relevant websites that offer value to the topic at hand. Pick websites with a higher PR rating than yours is generally a good rule of thumb when leaving comments. If they have the plugin, comment luv, even better because that is a great way to get a quality backlink to your site.
Schedule your time for things like replying to comments left on your blog, thanking people for RT’s on Twitter, writing articles, etc., for the early morning or after 9 pm when you can no longer make phone calls. Keep yourself open between 9-6 and start picking up that phone!
In closing…
I can speak first hand to MLM information overload and distractions. To this day I still find myself getting sidetracked and wasting time. I’ve gotten much better since I have a written plan to follow.
If you want to keep from failing in your network marketing business and avoid the MLM information overload syndrome, try incorporating these 7 steps into your daily routine. It will make all the difference in your overall daily production, and ultimately your bank account.

Hello Phillip,
Thanks for the comment. I agree, email is a big distraction for me too! That and the social networks. Another thing I find distracting is checking stats too often. Especially on the days when I send out a broadcast to my list or have created a new campaign of any kind. Checking those numbers isn’t going to make them go up any faster…. lol
I appreciate you stopping by, hope to see you back again soon.
I hope you are having a wonderful Holiday as well Phillip!
Thanks again,

Hi Richard,
Well I can definitely get what you’re saying here, I’ll be honest and say that my email is my biggest enemy when it comes to staying focused on the more important tasks. I always find my self checking it again and again.
Ohhh, and the information overload really is killing my working mood. I find my self browsing through so many blogs and articles I can’t even remember how the heck I got there in the first place.
You said it write pick it and stick it. Choosing a single task and working your way to get it done is a good way to increase your productivity.
Happy Holidays Richard, thank you for the wonderful tips, take care.
~Philip

Hi Viola,
I agree, I’ve had my info added to people’s lists a few times and its infuriating. It’s hard to believe they will run their business so underhandedly. It’s certainly no way to build trust or a relationship. Do they really think we will buy from someone who plays such tricks?
Thank you Viola for being here and for your comment! I hope you have a great holiday!

Hi Richard,
I can certainly relate to the information overload scenario! When I first started, I chose to opt-in a lot of sites. Later I realized that I really needed to trim back to those that are emailing me valuable information.
Some people just have the skills (and COURAGE) to put our names in their list without asking for permission. Those may be the first ones to be unsubscribed?
Great information here! Thanks, Richard! Do what you suggested here and we can focus a lot more!

Hello Sapna,
Thanks so much for taking the time to visit my site! I am a pretty recent follower of Barry, he’s a great guy!!! It means a lot to me that you are here because of his site.
I would have to agree with you, information overload comes at us from all directions… I still think for most of us trying to build a network marketing or affiliate business, time spent prospecting is the most valuable use of our time. As we begin to make more money, some of the daily chores can start to be outsourced. It’s difficult for one person to do everything…
Thanks again for stopping by!

Hi Richard
I just landed here from Barry’s post.
I think it’s not just MLM, its information load everywhere. The tips you have given are really great. At times we gets confused what is the best way to handle that. Where to give the best possible time?
Thanks for sharing this info.

LOL, You’re too funny Adrienne,
Not to worry, I won’t be unsubscribing from your list anytime soon! There is far too much to be learned from you. 🙂
Consistency really is the key. Honestly, until I picked one thing and stuck with it, things were a mess. It’s great to have you here, I especially appreciate the Shoutout at the end of your comment.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
RichardP
Oh no Richard, don’t unsubscribe from my list!!! Yikes!!!
Just kidding, boy can I relate. I use to think well that’s something interesting they’re going to share with me and then I sign up and it’s crap. Next thing you know I’m going tons of emails from them. I unsubscribed from a bunch of lists and limit myself now.
Focus is the key. I always get complaints from people about not making any money but when I ask them what they do I soon learn that the definitely aren’t focusing on the important tasks nor are they being consistent. Well dah!!!
These are all really great suggestions because there really is so much stuff to learn how to do online but it’s really just “busy” stuff. Nothing that’s going to get you the end results.
Okay people, if you want to have success then listen to what Richard is sharing here because he’s definitely right!
Thanks for giving us the real scoop Richard. We all need our wake up call right!
Hope you’re enjoying your weekend.
~Adrienne
LOL, You’re too funny Adrinne,
Not to worry, I won’t be unsubscribing for you list anytime soon! Far too much ahead to learn from you. 🙂
Thank you so much for leaving such an awesome comment. The shoutout at the end is very much appreciated!
Consistency is the key isn’t it? Again, thank you! It’s an honor to have you here…
I hope you have a wonderful weekend too!

Good point Nathaniel,
Emulating the success of a leader in your niche is wise advice.
Many leaders will offer to mentor new recruits, if you can partner with one in your company and are coachable, can follow directions and the blueprint they set forth… Then you’re golden!
Thanks for stopping by and adding value to this post!
RichardP
Thanks for the valuable tips Richard.
Information overload is a killer and paralyzing!
It’s all about focus focus focus.
Another tip I learned recently is to find a leader
in your niche and simply follow ONLY them.
Do what they do.
Unsubscribe to other leaders all other leaders
Hi Nathaniel,
That’s a great piece of advice and something I didn’t hit on. You’re so right. I’m not sure if I would limit it only one leader, but I know so many people including myself in the beginning that are following too many people at one time. It just adds confusion and takes you off track.
Thanks for stopping by and adding value to this post!
