In order to make the most of Socialized Commerce, first we must define it, learn what benefits it has to offer, and how we can use it to not only benefit ourselves, but those we care about.
The Definition of Social Commerce is:
According to Wikipedia : “Electronic commerce that involves social media, online media that supports social interaction, and user contributions to assist online buying and selling of products and services.“
Socialized Commerce is derived from the term Social Commerce, it is a term coined by Dr. Nicholas Porter, founder and creator of Trunited, a site that pays CashBack on nearly everything you buy. More about this in a moment.
Stop and think for a second, how many social or eCommerce websites do you currently use? I would venture to guess you have an account with at least 3 of the social sites mentioned below, right?
Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Amazon, eBay, Snapchat, Yelp, the list goes on and on. Social media has become less about social interaction with friends and family, and more about selling goods and services through these platforms it would seem.
As big as social media is, last year in the U.S. alone Social Commerce brought in an estimated $327 billion in 2016, up 45% from $226 billion in 2015.
Big Commerce’s website breaks down all the stats regarding online shopping and the numbers are astonishing.
According to the article, 51% of Americans prefer to shop online. 96% of Americans have made a purchase online in their lifetime with 80% of them doing it in the last month. They also break it down by generation, gender, frequency, location, the influence of social media, city size, and at least 6 more categories.
It was on May 19, 2011 that Mark Zuckerberg predicted online buying would be the next big thing to explode. If Amazon is any indication I would have to agree!

The Benefits of Socialized Commerce
- Top of the list has to be convenience. Never having to leave your house or being able to shop in your underwear as I like to say. Shop from anywhere, really! With smart phones and apps, spending money couldn’t be any easier to do these days!
- Larger Variety
- Comparison Shopping without leaving the house.
- Lower Prices
- No Long Lines to Wait In
- The Opportunity to Get Paid CashBack – Referral Marketing

Over the years there have been a staggering number of platforms that allow shoppers to go through their portal first in order to get paid CashBack on everyday purchases.
eBates was one of the very first websites to spring up nearly 12 years ago that offered cash back. Since then, many other “CashBack” sites have evolved. TopCashback, BeFrugal, MyPoints, Shop.com, iBotta, just to name a few.
They all have one thing in common, a customer can create a free account, shop online at their favorite stores and get a percentage back for going through one of these portals. Everyone today is looking to save money, and why not! If you’re going to buy something anyway, you may as well get paid back for doing it.
The problem with eBates and some of these other Cash Back websites is they are pretty chintzy when it comes to paying a referral fee when you share their platform with friends and family.
eBates for instance will only pay a one time referral fee, refer 2 friends who shop and you can get a $50 bonus! That’s a pretty good deal, but it is a one time thing. As for collecting your cash back with eBates, their video states, once a quarter they will mail you a check or deposit to your PayPal account.

So every 3 months you can get paid back for your normal shopping. That’s better than not getting paid back to shop at all but…
Socialized Commerce is all about sharing and getting paid back EVERY TIME the people you refer shop!
Some companies like Shop.com offer this but they will only pay you on 0.5% cash back on what your friends and family do.
0.5% of 1% is just laughable. In other words if the person you referred spent $100.00 you would receive $.50 cents. It would take 6 referrals or them spending $600.00 combined in order for you to be able to buy your favorite latte at Starbucks with your referral bonus.
I am not knocking eBates or any of the other reward programs out there, they all offer some value back to “We the Shopper.” It’s just that I have found a much better system that I feel is important to share with you…
Which brings me back to Dr. Nicholas Porter, or Dr. Nico as he is affectionally referred to. His company is called Trunited.
What Makes Trunited Different From All Other Socialized eCommerce Sites?
What I find most intriguing about this company is they are a Non-For-Profit company, meaning after expenses, 100% of the profits are paid back to their customers and affiliates.
You read that right, 100%. No one in the company takes a salary, they share the platform just like all their customers do.
Trunited has put together an affiliate program which again is FREE to get started with. All customers/affiliates will get paid on 2 levels for sharing the platform.
They are structured a little differently than most. Trunited works off what they call “Profit Points.” Each division, the Global Brands, Gift Cards, and TruBox store pays a percentage back to the customer in profit points. These profit points equate to money. At the end of the month after the company pays all expenses they can determine what the profit point will be worth that month.

Typically each profit point = .25 cents. It has been as high as $.30 cents per point. So if you made purchases during the month which gave you 78 profit points, you would earn back…
78 points x .25 = $19.50. For buying what you were going to buy anyway.
Here’s what makes Trunited unique. They will pay matching profits points, 100% for every person you share this free platform with, providing you both have a minimum of 30 points each. In addition, they pay their customers every month!

Let’s say you share Trunited with 3 people, they all shop and get 50 points each. That is another 150 points you will be paid on…
Point for Point! You still earn on your personal points along with their points:
150 points x $.25 = $37.50 for a total of $57.00 dollars.
Now, $57.00 isn’t going to make anyone wealthy, BUT…
There is no limit to how many people you can share the platform with. Don’t forget, the above example is only showing you getting paid for you and 1 level down. You still can be paid 100% point match on the people they share Trunited with.
For anyone looking for an affiliate program they can earn a significant income with, Trunited is worth looking into. As an affiliate you can earn down to 15 levels.
The are NO requirements to be an affiliate, this is a free program.
There are no monthly autoship requirements or high priced buy-in fees. It’s free, just sign-up, shop, share, and save!
I’ll let you do the math but, after a year of you and your group sharing Trunited, what do you think those numbers mentioned above will add up to if you’re being paid matching points on 10 to 15 levels?
Here is just a sampling of the over 454 Global Brand stores Trunited has partnered with. New companies are added throughout each quarter. They all offer a different percentage of profit points but, if you’re going to shop at any one of these stores, eat out, go to the movies, travel, get your hair or nails done, etc., etc., etc…
Wouldn’t it make sense to get paid for doing it?

For decades companies have been paying their customers for recommending their products or services. Today its called social influence. “Influencers” as they are referred to today have huge followings on social media.
Social media and rating sites like Yelp have a tremendous effect when it comes to driving sales, positive or negatively.
Conclusion
Consumers today are always looking for ways to save money. Coupon clippers spend hours every month looking for ways to save on their everyday purchases. The median family income in the U.S. in 2016 was $59,039.00. That doesn’t go very far for a family of three or four.
After fixed expenses, mortgage, insurance, utilities, food, college expenses etc., many households are living paycheck to paycheck and have very little saved for emergency expenses, let alone retirement.
Social eCommerce, especially a platform such as Trunited can have a major impact for families everywhere.
Dr. Nicholas Porter’s goal is for 1 million families in the Untied States to earn $500.00 a month back on their everyday purchases. $6,000.00 a year can certainly be a blessing to an awful lot of families, just for shopping though this free platform and buying what they were going to buy anyway!

I would have to agree with you. Especially during the COVID times. Many who didn’t want to talk about creating a side income are changing their tune right now.

Thanks Richard, very informative blog you have here, keep up the good work.
Just goes to show there’s been no better time to start an online business and make money online than right now! Also, the fact that 51% of people prefer to shop online is crazy! I wonder what it will be like in 2030… 60%? 75%? 90%+?
Hey Mathew,
Thanks for stopping by! They really are a very unique company that is on the path to disrupt the direct sales/eCommerce industry.
Actually they are a “Not-For-Profit” company meaning none of the principles take a salary and after all expenses are paid, they
distribute the remaining profits to all of their customers.
I appreciate you leaving a comment.

Hey Richard,
I came here accidentally looking for some information on Google about e-commerce site social media integration. But see, what I got to know here is much valuable than what I was looking.
Great applause for the Trunited company, they really taking the pain and sharing the goodie for the customers. It is really good to see they do it Non-profit way.
Thanks Mathew for taking time to leave a comment. We are all leaving so much money on the table! Trunited offers a great way for the average family to earn back on the things they purchase everyday.
