How To Get High Pagerank Backlinks Such As .EDU Links

by Richard Petrillo on April 8, 2013

High Pagerank Backlinks, especially .EDU backlinks are still king in Google’s eye and an important SEO component not to be overlooked!

High Pagerank Backlinks

Search engines such as Google, Bing, Yahoo and others take into consideration what websites are linking back to one another.  Backlinks, otherwise known as incoming links, inbound links, or inward links play an important role in how Google and the gang rank the popularity and authority of a website.

High pagerank backlinks such as .EDU or .GOV sites are high authority websites and often hold a pagerank of 5 or higher.

Having relevant websites linking back to your site is considered a favorable “Vote” in the eyes of search engines. With all the changes Google has made over the past year, plenty of websites have been punished for link spamming; which is the practice of creating hundreds, or thousands of low quality, irrelevant websites linking back to each other.

Today the social vote is far more important than any low quality backlinks. Click here for a more comprehensive breakdown on how Google and the social vote have changed everything…

High Pagerank Backlinks like .EDU backlinks on the other hand still hold their weight in gold, if you can get them.

Check out the video below to learn exactly how to get free high pagerank backlinks from a .EDU website.

Also, I have found a couple of free tools you can use for checking backlinks with pagerank for any website that I wanted to share with you.

ToolSpot checks for broken links, Alexa Rank score, what’s my IP address and a few other things.

Netpeak Checker is actually a free tool and piece of software you can download and install which includes all the above and a lot more. You can check Google Index, Google Domain Mentions, Site Links in the Google SERP, it checks for Internal/External links on a main page and about 20 other tasks.

The cool little “Ad-On” for Firefox as shown in the video below is called NoDoFollow by Zachary Fox. It’s free to install and as you will see in the video, if you right click on any webpage, in the drop down menu, if you choose NoDoFollow, it will highlight every link in either red or blueish color indicating a No or DoFollow link.

Okay so check out the video to learn how to get high pagerank link from this .EDU website and then set up your own profile by clicking this .EDU link.

It’s probably best to add just a couple of links to your profile at one time, spread it out over a few weeks so it doesn’t look suspicious to Google.

If you have some other cool whitehat tips on backlinking, I would love to hear them! So, what do you think about this strategy on creating .EDU pagerank backlinks? Please leave me a comment me below.

Yes, high quality backlinks are always best but it’s important to keep in mind the value of relevant backlinks.

If you run a blog and have people commenting from a totally unrelated niche, it does little good, or it may even be harmful if those are the only comments you are approving, just for the sake of showing comments on your site.

I’ve always been intrigued by .edu links. I have a few, but mostly picked them up from sponsoring WordPress templates back when that was hot. While I have gone the route of setting up profiles like you mention in the past, I just kind of let it fall by the wayside. Maybe it’s time to pick it up again.

Hey Robin,
Thanks but I can’t take any of the credit for this one. We all have Mike Hobbs to thank! It does pay to continue to educate ourselves. I am glad I came across Mike’s training.

Thanks for the comment and for taking the time to share it!
Hope you had a great weekend!

Hey Kapil,
Yeah I did too. I was very glad to come across Mike’s training. Still I would proceed with caution and not over do it.
In case you missed it, I have another similar strategy on how to get a backlink from Google+. I would love to hear your thoughts on it.

Thanks for stopping by and validating this technique. Have a great week!

Hi Adrienne,

Yes, it is journalism and a lot more. From what I can tell they cover everything from Social Media, WordPress tutorials, Video storytelling and more.

I agree with you, it may not be an exact match to network marketing, mlm, etc. but then again, we both talk about WordPress, SEO, Plugins, Managing Settings and so on. They also have courses on Twitter, Facebook and how those platforms connect with business.

I think if you have a post that pertains to what they are teaching, such as social media, it would be fine to use that to backlink your site to…

So far I haven’t seen any negative effect, but it really is too early to tell. I’ll keep you updated.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts here.

Well that was pretty cool Richard, thanks!

So this site is a school for journalism? Was I reading that right? I headed over there to check it out so I guess that’s why I’ve never done anything with these dot extensions because what I share isn’t relevant to their sites. I would think that would hurt you more then help you. But, I’m not doing it so what do I know right!

Will eagerly await your response.

Thank you Koundeenya,

Very true, the days of blackhat link building techniques are over, (Thank God) Google has been working hard to put an end to that! The best backlinking strategy today should be done by organic Social Sharing.
Thanks for stopping by!

Great tips, Richard.

Every blogger and webmaster should consider safe link building as one of the highest priorities. Because, quality links makes you rank top and bad incoming links will just trigger the Google animals to attack your site. That really feels bad.

One should never go for blackhat techniques for link building.

Thanks for suggesting those awesome tools, for link checking.

Hi Lisa,

You’re welcome! Thank you for taking the time to comment.

I’ve been trying to add more video to my site since google loves google and owns YouTube, it does offer a bit more SEO juice if you link the two.

I just visited your site for the first time and Wow! Very impressive, I love all the information and tips you provide, especially your recent article on Link Shy. Great info, I will be spending a lot of time there learning from you.

Thanks so much Lisa, have a great weekend!
