There are dozens of articles and methods on how to drive traffic to your blog, some are completely free, while others can break the bank in a hurry!
In this article I’d like to share 11 tips on how to drive traffic to your blog, without having to take a second mortgage out on your home.
Not all strategies discussed here are free, but they are designed for those building on a budget.
After you have designed your website, hopefully with all the proper SEO in place, the first step will be to drive traffic to it.
I want to discuss some less conventional ways first to increase traffic to your blog other than Article Marketing, Forum Marketing, Press Releases, PPC, etc. You can find that on any of the other 20 million “How To Get More Traffic'” sites out there.
Since this article is about getting people to visit your site, I am going to assume your are already following the “Golden Rule” of providing high quality content related to your niche.
If you’ve done your keyword research properly, which is half the battle to getting organic traffic from Google to your site, this is my my number one tip on how to drive traffic to your blog…
1. Twitter (Free & Paid Methods)
Twitter is like having a built in list of millions of people you can market too multiple times throughout the day, if you go about it the right way.
Because my goal here is to provide quality content that will help people succeed in their network marketing business. All I have to do is direct my twitter followers to my various articles and let them do the selling for me.
Unfortunately, spammers have taken advantage of Twitter by posting nothing but capture page links in their tweets, or they go about marketing directly to people without first building a relationship. Twitter is cracking down on them hard and accounts are being shut down left and right.
Remember, Twitter is still a Social Networking Site and should be used as just that! Be sure to engage with your Twitter followers and ALWAYS reply to any re-tweets, mentions, and #FF
My philosophy is to first create great content that people are searching for and then share it with the world via Twitter. Right now I would say 60% of the traffic to my blog comes from Twitter. That’s about 3,600 views per month just from a 140 character tweet.
At the end of each article I have a call to action, those who have found value in the article and who are looking to learn how to generate leads online are going to click the link provided and check it out.
There are methods which allow you to automate Twitter, saving you valuable time to pursue these other strategies. I’m all about automation whenever possible.

2. Solo Ads (1-Paid Method)
In simple terms, a solo ad is when you pay someone to email to THEIR mailing list on your behalf. You create a short ad and include your website link or capture page within the ad. They will guarantee X amount of clicks on your link for a dollar amount. Typical charges are 500 clicks for $160 – $200 dollars. You can find Solo Ads that will offer 200 clicks for $50 or $60 dollars as well.
Copywriting skills really come into play here because a Solo Ad is just an email. Your one shot at getting them to open and read it is, your headline. So it better grab their attention.
Again, being somewhat unconventional and going against the grain, with some Solo ads, rather than put a link directly to a capture page, there are times I will link it back to a promotional blog post. Be sure and have a way to capture their information on this post since this is not free traffic, you are paying for each click with this method.
This is a great way to do the opposite of what everyone else is doing, while at the same time achieve equal or better results, and drive more traffic to your blog.
Remember, the sole purpose of a Solo Ad is to capture someones information and get them onto your list. So your promotional blog post better be captivating and congruent enough with your subject headline in order for them open it, read it, and to give up their email address.

3. Betternetworker (2-Paid Method)

This has been very effective for driving traffic to my blog!
As a paying member you can create articles, upload videos, run classified ads, participate in their forum and much more. With over hundreds of thousands of hits every month, BN is a great source to place content with links back to your main site. It’s a powerful way if you’re looking for an inexpensive method on how to drive traffic to your blog.
4. SafeLists or Traffic Exchanges (Free or Paid)
SafeLists and Traffic Exchanges allow you to build up points by clicking on other ads running on their site in order to build up points. You can take the shortcut approach and buy points also. Once you have enough points, your classified ads can start running. Take caution here as you can get sucked in and waste a lot of time clicking around on ads just to build up points. My experience has been most of the people using these types of exchanges aren’t really looking at the ads, they are just clicking for points.

5. Create a Lens on Squidoo and place a few links back to your blog. (Free)
7. Create an account with NetworkedBlogs and post a banner on your site. Other bloggers can follow your site, it keeps a running total of followers and posts their gravatar within the banner. It’s great social proof and will make others aware of you. (Free)
8. Start commenting on related blogs in your niche. Be sure to add quality and value in your comments. By doing so, others will often visit your blog. (Free)
9. Open a Free YouTube account and post videos where you share niche related tips. In the description box be sure and add your link to the homepage of your blog. It’s best to place this link in the first line of the description. YouTube gets millions of hits daily and is a sure way to get traffic to your blog. (Free)
10. Join several Facebook groups and add valuable comments to their posts. Friend other networkers that you can share ideas with. Post your recent articles on the group page. If your are solving peoples problems in your post, it will get shared quickly throughout Facebook. (Free)
11. Ping your website using free services such as: pingomatic, pingoat, pingler and feedshark. (Free)
In closing, If you’ve been trying to figure out how to drive traffic to your blog and you are serious about generating leads, my advice would be to start with Solo Ads and Twitter.
Solo Ads will produce the quickest results. Twitter will take time to build a following but it’s a strategy I would start on as soon as you finish reading this post. It’s that powerful!
